Father's Day: Gifts Dad Really Wants
Summer has started in full swing and unlike Mother's Day that falls during the school year, Father's Day is in the heart of crazy summer activity schedules. So if you have put off finding dad the perfect gift until two days before, have no fear. Here is a list of gifts dads are sure to love, won't cost a lot and most importantly, you still have time to wrap up:
Cook His Own Food: Unlike mom on Mother's Day, lots of dads WANT to cook. If the dad in your life likes to light up the grill, why not provide him with his favorite meat to cook and a few sides to go along with it. Hey, he enjoys cooking and Father's Day dinner is solved!
Take A Swing: Mom likes to relax maybe at a spa or just sleep in on Mother's Day, but dads tend to relax in a different way. Lots of dads want to engage in their favorite hobby. Maybe their hobby of choice is riding a motorcycle or maybe it's hitting the nearby golf course. Whatever the dad in your life likes to do, give him the gift of hobby alone time. He gets an hour to enjoy his passion and you've provided a memorable gift.
Hey Batter Batter: Does the dad in your life like sports? There may not be the time to take him to a game, but see if a team he follows is playing on t.v. this weekend. Even if you are not a huge sports fan yourself, spend time watching the game with him and cheering on his team to victory. Or if his team is not televised, see if you can order just his game through your cable or satellite provider.
Quality Time Dad-Style: Are there hobbies or activities that the dad you know loves? Maybe spend the day together learning his hobby or what he likes to do in his free time. All dads like to spend quality time with their families and why not suggest dad plan what the family does for the day.
The Never-Completed Hobby: Has dad started a hobby and hasn't had the time to work on it lately? Why not provide the tools or even the man power to help complete his project.
Competitive Streak: Does your dad like a good competition? Why not a family game day or a mini golf outing or maybe a game of touch football in the yard? A little healthy competition may make for some fun memories.
Appreciation Dinner Hour: Like motherhood, fatherhood can often times be a thankless job. Why not have each member of your family write down one memory or appreciative moment with dad and mention it during Father's Day dinner. Sometimes the best gifts are just taking the time to say thanks.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Hope you make the dad in your life feel special.
Do you have any last minute Father's Day gift ideas? What are they? What are you doing for dad this year? Feel free to comment!
